Video: Exploring new opportunities for collaborative working

Professor Uwe Oelfke is Deputy Head of the Division of Radiotherapy and Imaging at The Institute of Cancer Research, and Head of the Joint Department of Physics at the ICR and our partner hospital, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

He is working to improve radiotherapy treatment and planning by combining recent developments in cancer biology, cancer therapeutics and medical physics. He is a leading figure in the international MR Linac consortium, which has brought this pioneering technology to patients in the UK for the first time at the ICR and The Royal Marsden.

Professor Oelfke’s focus on translational research means that he has considerable experience of working with industry, having collaborated with companies such as Siemens, Varian and Philips.

This work has included the development of MRI image processing sequences and ultra-fast algorithms for treatment planning, as well as hardware developments in adaptive radiotherapy.

He and his team are keen to explore new opportunities for collaborative working in these or other areas of medical physics.
