Looking to support The Institute of Cancer Research but not quite ready to take on a sporty challenge yourself? Join us as a volunteer at some of our events and give our amazing fundraisers the support they deserve.

How can you volunteer for cancer research?

Over the course of the year, the ICR's Events Team supports our fundraisers at key events in our fundraising calendar. Every event is a little different, but what’s certain is that there’s always an incredible atmosphere, passionate people and enthusiasm to cheer participants along. 

We always need extra volunteers to make sure the ICR has a great presence at each event and it’s simple to get involved. All we need you to do is to come along, cheer our fundraisers and bring enthusiasm and willingness to help out. The time commitment is small, only requiring a few hours of your time for the specific events we attend. 

If you'd like to help and join us please email [email protected] and tell us a bit about yourself, why you'd like to help support us and the event you'd like to support. We’ll then be able to let you know what you need to do, where to meet and communicate important information to you.

Music artist Damian Knowles – also known as KNWLSY - was diagnosed with stage 3 locally advanced bowel cancer in February 2023. Following successful surgery and chemotherapy, he now has no evidence of disease. Here, the 44-year-old father of four explains why new developments in cancer research give him hope.
