Help us reach the finishing line. Join us in the 'Marathon of Hope'.
After the successful return of the Terry Fox Run to London last year we’re so excited to run together again. Help to continue Terry's legacy of cancer research to make sure cancer patients don’t get left behind.
Run with us in Battersea Park, London, or run, walk or cycle in your local area any distance to help us transform the future of cancer treatment. Let’s finish cancer together.
Learn more about Terry Fox’s story, alongside accounts of young cancer survivors and interviews with Fox family members.
Canadian hero Terry Fox knew about challenges and how to overcome them.
Terry lost his leg to osteogenic sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. 40 years ago he ran 3,339 miles over 143 days on one leg to raise awareness and money for cancer research. His dream to run across Canada was cut short after his cancer spread to his lungs and he died aged 22.
Terry’s ‘Marathon of Hope’ continues to inspire people in Canada and beyond to raise money for cancer research. So far over £500million has been raised in Terry’s name in runs across the world.
The event is free to enter, non-competitive and open to all. We just ask you to raise as much as you can. All funds raised in Terry Fox Run UK will support our work (there is no minimum fundraising target).
Our Terry Fox ambassador
Professor Bakal is one of our scientists, and a proud Terry Fox ambassador. Hear about his personal motivation to take part in this inspirational event:
“Every donation keeps our research going. Following the coronavirus lockdowns, we are working with even greater resolve and dedication to make up for research hours lost to the coronavirus, and continuing to make life-saving discoveries to defeat cancer.”
