Location: SuttonDr Furness completed her medical training at Cambridge and Oxford University and her PhD at the Institute of Cancer Research. She trained in clinical haematology at the Royal Marsden Hospital and Great Ormond Street. During her training Dr Furness undertook an NIHR sponsored academic clinical fellowship at the Royal Marsden and The Institute of Cancer Research and her PhD in single genomics in paediatric T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia was funded by Leukaemia Lymphoma Research (now known as Bloodwise). Dr Furness has been the lead for the paediatric stem cell transplant at the Royal Marsden hospital since 2018 and since this time has established a portfolio of transplant clinical trials within the paediatric drug development unit as well as building academic haematology translational collaborations with paediatric leukaemia and data science teams at the Institute of Cancer Research. Dr Furness is also involved in teenage and young adult (TYA) leukaemia research and acts as TYA clinical lead to the South Thames Paediatric Cancer operational delivery network.
