Four of the UK’s leading opera singers have performed an exclusive recital in support of the ICR.
Mary Bevan (soprano), Christine Rice (mezzo-soprano), Sam Furness (tenor) and James Ioelu (bass-baritone), under the baton of Music Director William Vann (director of music, Royal Hospital Chelsea), performed at Spencer House, London’s magnificent eighteenth-century aristocratic palace.
Recital for Research, an evening of spring time opera and song in aid of the ICR, was held for a second year, following the success of the highly acclaimed 2018 performance.
We are building a new state-of-the-art drug discovery centre to create more and better drugs for cancer patients. To make our building a reality, we urgently need your philanthropic support.
Proceeds to world-leading research
Guests spent the evening in the stunning surroundings of Spencer House, acclaimed for its architecture and elegant interiors. All proceeds from the event go towards the ICR’s world-leading research.
The event followed the ICR’s announcement of plans for the world’s first drug discovery programme specially designed to tackle cancer’s lethal ability to evolve resistance to treatment.
Researchers will be based in a new £75m Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery, which is the subject of a £15m capital appeal.
