BBC Panorama

ICR and The Royal Marsden to star in BBC Panorama documentary

06/02/15

An episode of Panorama focused entirely on the pioneering work of The Institute of Cancer Research, London, and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is to air on BBC One next week.

Over the past two years, the BBC’s Panorama team has been given unprecedented access to trials and ongoing research at the ICR and The Royal Marsden.

The resulting episode, Can You Cure My Cancer? will air at 9pm on BBC One on Wednesday 11 February.

The programme will tell the stories of cancer patients as they undergo clinical trials of new drugs at the ICR and The Royal Marsden, through interviews with them, their families and medical teams.

Can You Cure My Cancer? will feature the research programmes of several team leaders at the ICR, many of whom are also treating patients through our unique partnership with the hospital.

It will explore how huge advances in genetics are transforming our understanding of the disease and how to combat it – and how some patients given just months to live are keeping the disease at bay for years. These individuals are pioneering the development of new cancer treatments.

You can read more about the stories behind the researchers on BBC Panorama on our site. The programme is available online at the BBC Panorama page, here.
