It is with deep sadness that The Institute of Cancer Research, London, marks the death of Her Majesty The Queen.

Our sympathy is with Her Majesty’s Family, and the whole country, at this sad time. We have sent a letter of condolence to Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Chancellor of the University of London.

Her Majesty was a long-term supporter of cancer research through her Patronages. It was a great honour, in 2016, for the ICR to be awarded a highly prestigious Regius Professorship to mark Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday. And in 2017 we were proud to receive a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for the global impact of our drug discovery research.

Professor Kristian Helin, Chief Executive of The Institute of Cancer Research, London, said:

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty The Queen. We are all hugely grateful for Her Majesty’s life of national service, and for her generous support for science and medical research. We offer our sincere condolences to Her Majesty’s family.”
