Marios Konstantinos Tasoulis

Mr Tasoulis is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust specializing in the surgical management of breast cancer and Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). His research focuses on the individualisation and de-escalation of surgery in patients with breast cancer treated with neoadjuvant systemic therapy

Biography

Mr Marios Konstantinos Tasoulis is a Consultant Breast Surgeon at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Tasoulis specialises in oncoplastic breast surgery with a special interest in surgical de-escalation after neoadjuvant systemic therapy and the management of breast implant associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL).

Mr Tasoulis studied medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and completed his PhD at the same University in 2012, having been awarded scholarships for his undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

After completing his surgical training in Athens, Greece, Mr Tasoulis was awarded a fellowship from the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) and worked at the Breast Unit at Yale University, New Haven, US, as a Visiting Assistant Professor, before joining The Royal Marsden Hospital initially as an Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellow and later as a Consultant Breast Surgeon.

Mr Tasoulis is the lead trainer at The Royal Marsden Hospital for the National Advanced Training in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellowship. He teaches courses at The Royal College of Surgeons of England and was admitted in the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. 

Mr Tasoulis has served as member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Trainee Council (2017-2018) and was part of the team developing the Education Essentials for Oncology Fellows Year 1. He is actively involved in mentoring young oncology professionals through the ASCO Virtual Mentoring Program and was admitted into the prestigious ASCO Education Scholars Program (Class of 2022-23) for leaders in medical education.

Mr Tasoulis is actively involved in clinical research. His main research interest includes de-escalation of breast and axillary surgery in patients with exceptional response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. He has been the Chief Investigator and local Principal Investigator of a number of national and international studies. He is part of international clinical trials steering committees and sits in the Research Committee of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Mr Tasoulis has presented his work in international meetings and also invited to be a keynote speaker at multiple meetings in Europe, Australia, Asia and South America.
