Supporters of The Institute of Cancer Research, London, raised more than £7,000 at the Berlin Marathon for research into cancer.
Five ICR runners successfully completed the course which is billed as the fastest course in the world. A ‘Music Marathon’ of 80 bands played along the route to keep runners motivated as they navigated the city.
Paul Flach from New York ran for the ICR in memory of his father Adrian and his in-laws, Howie and Laurel. Paul has raised more than £2,600 towards our ground-breaking cancer research, and achieved a personal best of 2 hours 52 minutes.
Paul said: “For me, running the Berlin Marathon was a great challenge and I cannot think of a more worthy cause than supporting the important research that the ICR carries out every day. I know that the funds I raise will go towards helping other people suffering from this disease.”
Running with Paul were Lisa Conibear, Amjad Sultan, Joseph Regan and Martin Thomas.
