Donors and supporters of The Institute of Cancer Research, London, have contributed £12 million in charitable donations over the last year.
This record-breaking income smashes last year’s achievement by more than £3 million and marks an extraordinary level of generosity and commitment on the part of all those who have made a gift, raised funds for us, or remembered the ICR in their Will.
By running a marathon, donating monthly by Direct Debit, funding a PhD student or supporting us in another way, all of our supporters help us to make a difference.
Donations have for instance, helped us to train the cancer research leaders of the future, fund new members of faculty in our pioneering Centre for Evolution and Cancer, and apply knowledge of individual patients’ tumours in the clinic, through the Tumour Profiling Unit.
Lara Jukes, Director of Development at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) said: “I am extremely grateful to all of our donors and supporters for their generosity and fantastic dedication to the ICR. I know that many of you have very personal reasons for supporting us, and others of you are simply fascinated by the discoveries that our scientists make. However, the fact that we are able to make such discoveries is in no small part thanks to all of you.”
“I would like to thank everyone who has supported the ICR over the last year. Together, we are making the discoveries that defeat cancer.”
