Actor Laurence Fox, comedian John Sessions and actress Dame Penelope Keith were among the readers at this year’s ‘Carols from Chelsea’ event - which raised £95,000 for the ICR’s leading-edge research.
More than 400 people attended the sold-out event on Tuesday night which was hosted by the ICR in the beautiful Wren Chapel of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.
The evening began with a breath-taking candlelit procession by the Chapel Choir to ‘Silent Night’, under the direction of Director of Music, William Vann. Captivating musical performances were also given by soprano Valda Wilson, French horn player Anna Douglass and BBC Radio 2’s Young Choristers of the Year Tom King and Helena Paish. In-Pensioner Norman Mitchell also gave readings.
Following the service, guests and performers were invited to attend a champagne reception in the stunning surroundings of the Great Hall.
Carols from Chelsea, now in its 12th year, is the flagship event of the fundraising calendar and has in total raised more than £1 million – funds which support the ICR in its mission to make the discoveries that defeat cancer.
