The Cancer Research UK Convergence Science Centre

The Cancer Research UK Convergence Science Centre was established as a strategic partnership between Imperial College London and The Institute of Cancer Research, London.

It brings together leading researchers in engineering, physical sciences, life sciences and medicine to develop innovative ways to address challenges in cancer.

Our other strategic partner centres

The Cancer Research UK Convergence Science Centre partners the world-leading array of cancer biologists, translational researchers and clinicians at the ICR with Imperial’s outstanding technological capabilities in the physical sciences and engineering.

The Convergence Science Centre will create new opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration between researchers at the two institutions and support the clinical translation of novel cancer technologies and therapeutics. It will increase the ICR and Imperial’s joint capability and capacity to discover and develop exciting convergence science solutions that will expand our understanding of cancer, and greatly accelerate our ability to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer even more effectively.

The Scientific Director of the Convergence Science Centre is Professor Axel Behrens, who also hosts a research laboratory at the ICR.

Visit the Convergence Science Centre website to learn more about its work, including the research themes and infrastructure, the latest information on PhD studentships, and funding calls, news and events.
