ICR team scores 100% success in the Royal Parks Half Marathon

All 22 intrepid runners for The Institute of Cancer Research successfully completed Sunday’s gruelling 13-mile Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise vital funds for our research.

Urged on by a group of ICR staff and volunteers at our cheer station at mile 9, our runners joined thousands of others at one of the year’s most popular UK half marathon routes.

Jeremy Foster was the first ICR runner to cross finish line for the men – with an excellent time of 1:28 – while Amy Capper went fastest of the women with 1:40.

The Royal Parks runs through a spectacular course taking in some of London’s most famous landmarks – and is often used by runners as part of their training for the London Marathon.

There are a range of other sporting – and non-sporting – challenges for ICR supporters to get involved in.

One of the team cheering on the ICR runners was Lara Jukes, Director of Development at the ICR.

Lara said: “It’s inspiring to see our fantastic team of runners turning out once again at the Royal Parks half marathon, which is one of our most popular running events of the year. It’s great to see so many familiar faces from previous events, as well as some new ones.

“If our team at the Royal Parks have inspired you to take on a new challenge, then you can get involved too by taking part in one of our runs, cycles, or treks – or do your own thing to fundraise for us.”
